The editors of the Independent Literary and Artistic Quarterly \u201cPost Scriptum\u201d for the fourth time conducted a poll among readers for the Artist of the Year. The jury nominated 20 artists from various fields of art and literature, who were guests on the pages of the magazine in 2023, then readers using their votes selected the winner. This year’s edition once again generated a lot of excitement and votes for the nominated artists flowed in until the last minute. As a result of the poll, the honourable title of Artist of the Year 2023 went to Turkish watercolourist Rukiye Garip. Actor and director Marek Probosz came second, and singer and songwriter Anja Orthodox took third place.<\/p>\n

The summary of the plebiscite and presentation of the statuette to the Artist of the Year 2023 took place on November 17, 2024 at the Pardon, To Tu club in Warsaw.<\/p>\n

The presentation of the profiles of all the nominated artists and an overview of their work in the form of multimedia presentations was followed by the award of the ArtActs Post Scriptum statuette and the distribution of diplomas. On behalf of this year’s winner Rukiye Garip, the statuette was received by Borana Ankarali, the artist’s nephew. Her beautiful watercolours could be admired in the virtual gallery of works. The evening was highlighted by a performance by theatre arts professor Stanislaw Gorka, who sang several songs by Georges Brassens, and recited poems by Agata Tuszynska, Adam Gwara, Enormi Stationis and Lucja Dudzinska – poets nominated for Artist of the Year 2023.<\/p>\n

The evening ended with backstage conversations over a glass of wine.<\/p>\n

Anchoring temporarily at Iklectik Art Lab in Waterloo, London on Saturday the 18th of February 2023, members of the group Irruptive Chora \u00a0opened up their space of sharing in the form of a 12 hours-long public programming of multisensorial performances, installations, workshops, talks and improvised interventions. \u201cHyperspace irrupted, creating space for artistic experimentation. It imploded into a specific geolocation, while exploding its guiding thoughts, movements and gestures onto the wider external world. Contained and spilling at the same time, we were infiltrating the space while letting others infiltrate us, one and multiple, in continuous choreographed movement.\u201d \u2013 it\u2019s \u00a0an excerpt from the event report. On July 11th, the ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2020 gala was held, crowning the plebiscite in which the readers of Post Scriptum magazine chose the most interesting artist presented in the quarterly during the past year. The Artist of the Year<\/strong> title was awarded to Krzysztof Bieli\u0144ski – theater photographer – author of photographs for nearly 700 performances, and also creator of abstract photographs.
