PUBLICATION REGULATIONS in INDEPENDENT MAGAZINE OF LITERATURE & THE ARTS POST SCRIPTUM
DEFINITIONS:
The Author, as defined in the regulations, is a person who:
- created a given material (reportage, interview, review, etc.) – this applies to permanent editors as well as people invited to post their material once.
The Artist, as defined in the regulations, is a person:
- to whom the material relates (e.g., the author giving the interview) or the person sharing their works for publication (stories, poems, photographs, paintings, sculptures, etc.).
The Editorial Office:
- the editors authorised by the Editor in Chief to represent the quarterly to the Authors and Artists.
The Authorisation:
- examining if the transcriptions of recorded interviews or the edited materials did not include any mistakes (e.g., misspelled surname, title etc.). Changes in the text are possible only in case of the editorial proofreading changing the meaning of the Artist’s words. The Authorisation does not allow auto-editing (in contact with the Author) e.g., in the case of phrasing something in a better and/or different way. We value our Artists and we kindly ask, for them to value our time and work put into the editing process.
§1
- Artists (and Authors) who send the materials for publication declare that they are the authors of the submitted works, have copyrights to them (or consent of the owner of these rights) and agree to publish them: in the magazine, on its websites and on the fan page.
- Artists and Authors of the materials agree to publish fragments of their works for the purpose of promoting the magazine (blogs, websites, traditional media) or selected materials in full (with the consent of the Editorial Office) – for example reprints in other media with the source provided.
- In the case of photography or other fields of art that record the image, the Artist declares that:
- has the consent of the model or their legal guardians to publish their image (including publication in the Post Scriptum quarterly and partner media).
- the model is an adult – it concerns photographs showing scenes of nudity PS_REG_V9 / 21.
- The Artist that allows for the publication of their own image declares that they have been authorised by the photographer to publish the work.
§2
- Materials published in the Post Scriptum magazine cannot be fully available in any other electronic (blogs, websites, social media etc.) or traditional media (newspapers, magazines, bulletins etc.). The exceptions are poems, photographs and paintings.
- The abovementioned condition does not apply to the partner media outlets of Post Scriptum.
- The published materials can be shared in fragments with links to the Post Scriptum magazine.
§3
- All claims of the third parties to the intellectual property are borne by their authors (in line with the provisions of the regulations – both Authors and Artists in their areas of responsibility).
- Post Scriptum magazine is not responsible for any published texts or materials relating to religious beliefs, moral standards in a given country or violation of any other local laws. The Editorial Office is only responsible for cases regulated by the EU Community law and British law. The authors (Artists and Authors) take full responsibility for the compliance of their texts with local laws.
§4
- Materials sent to the Editorial Office remain the property of their Authors/Artists, subject to par. 1, point 1.
- The magazine does not pay for the submitted and published materials, except for those for which a separate agreement will be drawn between the Author and the Editor.
- Artists submitting their works for review must take into account that the result may be both positive and negative reviews – consistent with the subjective sense of aesthetics of a given Editor or Editorial Board.
- If the Author or the Artist, for any reason, requests that their material be removed from the magazine (this applies to both the Authors of the texts and the people to whom the material relates – e.g., interviewed Artists), they will reimburse the Editor for the costs of preparing the material for publication (the cost of translation into foreign languages, proofreading, preparation for typesetting, etc.). This cost is fixed as a lump sum of GBP 100. The request to withdraw the material should be submitted in writing and will be the basis for calculating the above-mentioned fee.
- Editors cannot withdraw already downloaded or printed copies from the market (regarding point 4). Changes will be made in copies made available from the date of submission and with the approval of the Editors.
- Artists and Authors publishing in Post Scriptum may request correction if any information turns out to be untrue or unreliable and the text was not authorized. In this case, the fee will not be charged. The procedure for applying corrections is as described in points 5 and 7.
- The Editorial Office reserves a deadline of up to 7 working days to resolve requests for correction or withdrawal of the material. During the holiday period from June 15 to September 15, this period may be extended to 20 working days.
- Post Scriptum reserves the right to make changes to works consisting of correction and linguistic editing, shortening of the text or cropping of photos or works, if it is justified by technical reasons when composing the article.
- The Editors have the right to refuse to make changes to the authorized material, if the Artist requests them after the 15th month preceding publication (if at least 7 days have elapsed from the receipt of the text for authorization). If the corrections interfere with the original text, the Editors may (in case of disagreement with the Artist) refuse to publish the article. Thus, the situation described in point 4 will arise, i.e., the removal of the material with the fault of the Artist.
§5
The magazine can only be legally downloaded from the official digital platform. As of July 1, 2020, it is the Yumpu platform (current links are available on the magazine’s fan page). Sending a copy without the consent of the editor is a breach of copyright.
§6
Any fragments of articles with links to the Post Scriptum magazine can be published in electronic media.
§7
Any issues not regulated by the Regulations will be resolved on the basis of the provisions of EU Community law and British law.
